Q&A: How to monitor my security cameras on a LCD tv?

Question by Joe L: How to keep track of my protection cameras on a LCD television?
I can remotly see my safety program for my business from house which obviously needs a laptop or computer. I am hoping to set it up so I can just have a LCD tv setup to continuasly see the cameras. I guess I will have to get a modest personal computer and add it to my network with only the safety system working but isnt there a more affordable and easier way to do this.

You are going to will need 2 items:

1) A personal computer to act as the video "server". If you can get computer software to put your cameras on a world wide web page, you can operate a net server (Apache is totally free, and it's what most industrial net internet sites use), and connect to it from property by way of the web, or you can remotely connect to that personal computer (via the net) from home and effectively see the display screen on the workplace personal computer.

2) A multiplexer or switch so that you can stream much more than 1 camera at a time. A multiplexer provides you 4 or 6 (or eight or ...) cameras on 1 screen, a change switches amongst cameras at a fixed interval, so you see them one particular at a time. It is a personal choice.
