I'm travelling from Northern Ireland to the United kingdom to connect to a flight to the US next week for a railfanning trip. I will be bringing a camera, camcorder, (radio) scanner and laptop computer and was pondering what the very best way to pack these objects would be? I program on bringing the camcorder and digital camera in the same bag, and my dad bringing the laptop computer. I have heard that it is finest to pack a scanner in the checked luggage, but is this necessary?

To be a lot more specific, are any of these objects/components these kinds of as DVDs, memory cards, flash drives, magnetically-mounted antennae and standard batteries most likely to be ruined during any protection procedure with hand/checked baggage, particularly X-rays?

I'd provide the camera, camcorder, and laptop in your carry-on, primarily for safety purposes and to stop hurt. (Have you actually witnessed the way the baggage handlers throw stuff around? Frightening!!)

The scanner really should most likely go in your checked luggage, because the airlines actually don't like you to have anything at all that may interfere with radio transmissions, but I never feel it is an absolute necessity.

None of the items you have listed would be ruined by an X-ray scanner.
