Security system recommendations while living in an apartment. I don't trust the other tenants.?

Query by hitomi k: Security method recommendations whilst living in an apartment. I really don't rely on the other tenants.?
I am moving with two other friends into a three bed room apartment. There are security cameras put in, but they glimpse really outdated. My close friends and i will be shifting with fairly a number of expensive objects. There are some tenants we've seen that we just don't trust. We just want to really feel safer leaving our factors at home.
Any tips?

We don't want to get a canine, and i know we can constantly buy some stickers but i am also anxious that that'll only DRAW interest to us.

I reside in Ontario, Canada.

See if your landlord will install an additional lock. Really don't say anything at all about the sketchy tenants--just that you're worried about basic safety, being that your unit is full of females. If your windows can be reached from outside, put a rod in them to preserve them safe when shut (if they're the sliding sort). Also, get renter's insurance coverage if you can. It is cheap (at minimum down right here it is) and certainly supplies piece of brain.
