I Believe it's to do with stress pads in the lines on the floor next to the cameras. Essentially, the time it normally requires you to go from 1 pad to the other, it can calculate the speed your heading. make feeling ?
Naturally if it requires you 1 minute to go from one pad to the other, you're heading sluggish. if it normally requires you a split 2nd, you are heading to fst - just examples - I really don't know the time and velocity calculations
