i have direct tv and a DVR. Can i record footage from my protection cameras onto it?
a lot more information....my camera is shown on my tv exactly where i can watch it. so as a result, wouldn't i be ready to record it from my television??

Need to be capable to. But you left out a good deal of info, so it's difficult to say. It is dependent on what DVR you have, and how your DVR and cable box are setup to function jointly. Or if they're the very same box from immediate television then it depends on how the protection cameras are obtaining to your television... if they appear in on a channel that you entry from your cable box/dvr then sure, so lengthy as your dvr can record certain channels not just specific packages.
