Nervous b/c I don't think my college's security is very tight?

Question by SeaShells: Nervous b/c I do not believe my college's security is really tight?
I am a senior, and now is not the time to be modifying educational institutions. I go to Liberty University, just an hour and a fifty percent away from Virginia Tech. I'm from out of state, but I have neighborhood friends who lost their pals and family members members. It was a horrible tragedy. But I do not see my school stepping up to be any more secure. It is a Christian college, yes, but not everybody who goes there is a Christian. A good deal of individuals are there b/c that's where mommy and daddy provided to shell out their tuition. Following Jerry Falwell died, a student's mother identified bombs in his trunk. He was arrested and informed police he wished to bomb the funeral. Very last year, a woman was stabbed in a rest room in the creating in which all my classes ended up. A rest room I use every single day. One particular day, in chapel, they locked us in the Vines Middle and Jerry Falwell's security guards took him off the stage. They would not allow us leave. There had been a man strolling all around campus with a shotgun.

I am just... scared. I will not know if that's stupid. They just got surveillance cameras this year. But the campus police dept is not the very best. My prof named 911 b/c a lady passed out in my psych class and they took like 25 min to get there! I've called for an escort after getting to campus late a single night and acquiring to park in a secluded great deal-- took them 45 minutes to drive 1/two a mile to choose me up. It can be a modest campus.

What if something happens although? We never have metal detectors. There are not cops stationed all around campus-- just at the LUPD. Is it regular to be this paranoid about it?
I'm just stating, even Christians do poor points. And I did not want men and women wasting my time with answers like, "nicely, you are at a Christian school, you ought to be very good". Because naturally, they're incorrect.

That is a good deal of terrible events... Just have faith I feel that's the only thing you can truly do. Carrying mace also wouldn't be a negative concept.
